Legal Aid
One of the primary components of The Rose House Kinship Center is the Legal Clinic. Legal services available to relative caregivers throughout San Diego County are minimal. Many caregivers are low-income or living below the poverty line, and cannot afford to hire a private attorney. The clinic provides caregivers throughout San Diego County with free access to legal trainings specifically focused on the needs of kinship families. Our attorney addresses clients’ questions regarding affidavits, caregiver rights, guardianships, adoptions, benefits and interstate placements. With the support of Grossmont Community College, The Rose House also sponsors legal workshops, document preparation seminars and provides clients with a caregiver’s legal handbook, in addition to information on specific issues.Fees for individualized services / case work are set by a sliding-scale based on client’s income.
